Living Expectantly!!!

Look around you: so many of the people you know live without hope. They smile but their eyes are dead; they talk but the music has left their voice. They're like mannequins, all dressed up and going nowhere---they feel hopeless!!

Our hope isn't luck, it's expectancy; it's confidence that God will do what He's promised!

Hebrews 10:23 (New King James Version)

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

What keeps us going? "God's promises!"

Nobody knew this better than David; he'd every reason to lose hope.

After God anointed him to be King, he waited 7 more years while a paranoid leader occupied the throne. He had to flee for his life and hide in caves surrounded by enemies. He saw Israel devastated by war, his friends killed and his family taken captive.

Psalm 42:10 (Amplified Bible)

10As with a sword [crushing] in my bones, my enemies taunt and reproach me, while they say continually to me, Where is your God?

Faced with circumstances that would wipe most of us out, David still said,

Psalm 71:5 (New King James Version)

5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD;
You are my trust from my youth

David became Israel's greatest king because he never lost his confidence in God: it kept him focused; it kept him on top of the circumstances; it kept him going!

Hebrews 10:23 (New King James Version)

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Because God will keep every promise He's made to you!!!

Hope motivates us to keep going and not give up. Without hope we don’t want to do anything.
Peanut’s cartoon: Lucy and Linus were sitting in front of the television set when Lucy said to Linus, "Go get me a glass of water." Linus looked surprised, "Why should I do anything for you? You never do anything for me."

"Lucy promised, "I’’ll bake you a cake." Linus got up, headed to the kitchen and said, "Life is more pleasant when you have something to look forward to."

Do you have a steadfast unshakable hope in God? Hope not only opens the door to receive a touch from God, hope also moves you through the door.

Like Linus, when you have hope you’re willing to get up and do something.
